Protected from the Northern winds and blessed with plenty of sunshine, the region is ideal for vine growing – particularly so for the indigenous varietal of Xinomavro which thrives in its clay-like and limestone-rich soil. Since becoming the first region in Greece to be given its own appellation in 1971, PDO Naoussa has been dedicated to producing top quality wines exclusively of the Xinomavro varietal, wines which have been said to be on par with the famous Barolos and Barberescos of Italy. To read more about Naoussa, visit Vaeni Naoussa Co-operative’s website at https://www.vaeni-naoussa.com/en/.
