Takafumi Kawakami. Today, most of us live with the notion of an individual "self." However, this notion is actually quite new in human history. As we have come to rely heavily on the notion of an individual "self," we have become separated from our natural environments and social communities. This has resulted in an inability to see phenomena as interconnected, and can contribute to afflictions such as imposter syndrome or loneliness. Our retreats focus on understanding the notions of "self" in Zen and other Eastern contemplative traditions through Zen meditation, calligraphy and tea ceremony practices. The Maximum Capacity: 8 peopleAccommodation:Shunkoin Temple's GuesthouseEach room is a private room and has its own shower room and toilet.Day112:00: Check-in starts13:00~ 14:30: Introdution and Meditation14:30~ 16:00: Calligraphy 16:00~ 17:00: Meditation 17:00 ~ 18:00 Break or own meditation practice18:00 ~ 19:30 Dinner20:00 ~ 21:00 Meditation practiceDay26:30 ~ 8:00: Morning Meditation8:00 ~ 8:30: Break8:30 ~ 9:30: Breakfast10:00 ~11:00: Tea Ceremony11:00 ~ 13:00: Meditation and Q & A13:00: Check-out*Schedule of calligraphy session and tea ceremony might be changed due to the calligraphy and tea masters' avaibility.Cancellation Policy You will be charged 50% of the total fee as your cancellation fee if you fail to notice us about the change or cancellation of your reservation at least 10 days in advance from your reserved date.
