Inspired by the beautiful waistbelts and earrings exhibits at the Indian Heritage Centre, young creators can share their special item and create comics based on something they find precious in their lives such as a piece of jewellery, a belt or a toy. In this workshop, participants will create a unique and meaningful one-page comic that transforms the everyday into the extraordinary and showcases their own creativity and storytelling skills.Special note to participants: Bring an item that is special to you, such as a toy, a picture, a necklace.Recommended age: 7 to 12 years oldABOUT the Indian Heritage CentreSituated at 5 Campbell Lane, the Indian Heritage Centre serves as a springboard for visitors to explore Little India and enjoy the sights, sounds and scents of the historical precinct. Indian Heritage Centre was opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 7 May 2015 and offers year-round exhibitions, programmes and activities to promote greater public awareness and appreciation of Indian heritage, arts and culture. The permanent exhibition ‘Indians in Singapore - Past and Present’ traces the history of the Indian and South Asian communities in the Southeast Asian region.ABOUT AndeasyandANDEASYAND (NURULHUDA IZYAN) discovered the world of illustration while drawing on old name cards after her first marketing job, when she found ways to describe the beauty of the ordinary with doodles and scribbles. With her new power in comics making, she explores difficult topics like menstruation, anxiety, marriage, and weight, as well as silly daily musings. She considers her art an olive branch to like-minded strangers.
