Kahoot for Game-play Instruction

Facilitator: EdTech Unit

Kahoot for Instruction introduces the pedagogical idea of game-play in teaching to motivate learners. It serves as an unconventional approach to formative assessment or as a way to break from the “humdrum” of traditional classroom activities. The multimodal classroom response system is played in real time by the whole class.

Multiple-choice questions are projected on the screen. Learners answer the questions with their smartphone, tablet or computer. In conjunction with TPACK for teacher professional development, the use of Kahoot represents teachers' TPK (Technological Pedagogical Knowledge) and CK (Content Knowledge) in action, in their bid to achieving TPACK in lesson design, as measured in SAMR.
