Najeeba WazefadostFounder of Asia Pacific Network of Refugees and Global Refugee-led networkAt 10 years old, Najeeba Wazefadost fled Afghanistan with her parents. She sought asylum from Australia by sea in September 2000. She spent several months in mandatory immigration detention before being recognised as a refugee.Arriving with no knowledge of English, by the age of 14, Najeeba had mastered itwell-enough to win a national essay-writing competition, and start the advocacy journey for which she has since been awarded many times.Najeeba is the founder and president of Hazara Women of Australia, helping newly arrived refugee women learn English and more quickly feel part of their new communities. She also works as a settlement case worker in Sydney. She came to Japan (Akita) in 2008.She is multilingual, speaking Ukrainian, Russian, English and Japanese.
With the establishment of the Ukraine Mental Health Interaction Center(Shibuya Himawari) in May 2022, she will move her living base to Tokyo from April 2022, and support the lives of Ukrainian refugees and Ukrainians living in Japan. medical support, etc. Since the founding of Shibuya Himawari, she has held more than 60 events and has always put Ukraine first.She is the mother of a 4th grade boy, and is a very educative mother who visits museums and art galleries with her on her days off.Khadiza BegumShe is a prominent leader of the Rohingya women’s community in Japan. She came to Japan as a refugee in 2006 and got higher education at Aoyama Gakuin University. After graduation, she worked at a Japanese company UNIQLO for 9 years.Then, she was admitted to the Graduate School of Waseda University. After graduation, she has started to work at Shared Digital Center as an assistance staff. Apart from the job, she has been actively supporting Rohingya women and children in Tatebayashi since 2015. She is also appointed as the director of women`s affair co mmittee for the Arakan Rohingya Union for a two years term, starting from May 1st ,2023.Nour Nour is a Software Engineer originally from Damascus, Syria, now residing in Japan for the past five years. Currently, he works as a backend engineer at Eukarya. Over the last five years, He's achieved significant milestones, including acquiring programming skills, passing the JLPT(Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) N3, and securing a full-time software engineering position. Coming to Japan was the best thing that ever happened to him and was a turning point in his life. Looking ahead, his primary objectives are to pass the JLPT N1 examination and attain fluency in Japanese. Additionally, he is determined to obtain certifications in computer science to further enhance my expertise. Tin Win He is a tireless advocate for the rights of workers, refugees, and migrants, and he has made significant contributions to the advancement of democracy in Burma.
