2017年にシリーズAでは13億円を調達し、国内においてAIの分野で先駆しているコージェントラボがこれから人工知能が寄り添う未来について語ってくれます。そして投資家の観点からもEight Roadsが国内に置けるAIの投資について話してくれます。Eight Roadsはフィデリティのグローバル・ベンチャー投資基金であり、主にはミドル・ステージ以降のスタートアップを投資しています。

Cogent Labs which secured a 1.3billion yen Series A funding in 2017 and at the forefront of AI research and application in Japan will share their experiences on the transformative future of AI. Cogent Labs is a Tokyo based applied AI company which conducts cutting edge research and applies this to real world business challenges, from handwriting recognition to financial time series forecasting.

Eight Roads will also be sharing with us the future of AI from an investor's perspective. Eight Roads is a global VC funded by Fidelity and invests mainly in middle and later stage startups globally.


Eric Whiteway, Co-Founder, Cogent Labs

Prior to founding Cogent Labs, Eric Whiteway was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley for 16 years where he led Risk Trading and Proprietary Algorithmic Trading in Japan. An alumnus of Columbia University, he studied Computer Science and Operations Research. Excited by the advances and prospects of Deep Learning and its potential applications, Eric co-founded Cogent Labs in 2014.

David Malkin, Ph.D., Artificial Intelligence Architect, Cogent Labs

Dr. David Malkin is an AI Architect at Cogent Labs Tokyo. David's PhD in Computer Science at University College London focused on the optimization of complex networks, including neural networks, using genetic algorithms. Following his studies David worked as a quantitative trader using machine learning to develop high frequency trading algorithms. David joined Cogent Labs in the early days of the company in 2015 where he works both on research and business development.

Masatoshi Fukasawa, Principal, Eight Roads

Masatoshi is a Principal in the Eight Roads Tokyo office. After a decade as a management consultant he joined mobile internet company, DeNA where he focused on venture investing and new business, also serving as CEO of DeNA Life Science.

Masaru Imoto, Founder, Standard Transaction

Prior to founding Standard Transaction, Masaru Imoto worked for Citigroup as Equity Derivatives Sales and Trading covering investments and hedging for major domestic banks and insurance companies. Masaru left Citigroup and founded Standard Transaction, a fintech company in 2017.
