As the month of March kicks off, we invite you to join us for an early celebration of International Women’s Day and its theme for 2018: #PressForProgress. To meaningfully Press for Progress in Energy, it will be an honor for us to welcome three eminent leading women in energy worldwide: Emma Cochrane, Goh Swee Chen and Sheila Hollis. Emma, Swee Chen and Sheila respectively have received many accolades and recognitions for their many professional accomplishments in their respective fields of energy. Together, they bring over 85 years’ experience in the industry and, in this enlightening breakfast event, they will share with us about their personal career paths but also their views on the industry’s opportunities for women today and their perspectives on the global changes occurring today in energy.   It will be a rare opportunity to listen to three highly inspirational and influential leading women in energy who have made a name for themselves in energy worldwide. About the SpeakersEmma Cochrane Emma Cochrane was named Vice President, LNG, ExxonMobil Gas and Power Marketing on August 1, 2017.  In her role, she has global responsibility for commercial activity and marketing of LNG for ExxonMobil’s projects and joint ventures. Emma joined ExxonMobil in the UK in 1985 and has over 32 years of experience in both Downstream and Upstream businesses, working in Europe, the Middle East and the USA in a series of increasingly senior positions. Prior to her current role she was Vice President, Upstream Strategic Planning, Exxon Mobil Corporation, focused on strategic insights, opportunities and options across ExxonMobil’s Upstream portfolio, reporting to the Presidents of ExxonMobil’s Upstream companies. Emma is married to David Cochrane, also an ExxonMobil employee, and they have five children—a daughter who is a senior in high school in Houston, a son at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and three adult children in the UK and Singapore.Goh Swee ChenGoh Swee Chen has been the Chairman of Shell Companies in Singapore since October 2014.Concurrent to her Country Chair role, Swee Chen is also Vice President, City Solutions – New Energies, a role she assumed from January 2017. Swee Chen joined Shell in 2003 and was previously with Procter & Gamble and IBM.Other than chairing the Shell Companies in Singapore, Swee Chen had previously chaired/sat in the Boards of several Shell Joint Ventures in China, Korea and Saudi Arabia. Outside of Shell, she has chosen to focus her contributions in Education, Human Capital and Sustainability. She is a Trustee on the Board of Singapore University of Technology & Design and Council Member of Singapore National Employer Federation. Swee Chen is also the President of Global Compact Network Singapore and Chairman of Institute of HR Professionals. She is married with three children.   Sheila Hollis   Sheila Slocum Hollis is from the American Rocky Mountain West. Raised almost single-handedly by her mother, Sheila moved extensively and lived in 20 different places by the age of 16. She graduated early from high school at the age of 16. and matriculated at the University of Colorado, Boulder, achieving a B.S in Journalism in 1971. Thereafter she studied at the University of Denver College of Law, got married and had her daughter at 20. She planned to practice real estate and tax law in Colorado, but on a lark she accepted an honors position with the Federal Power Commission. Sheila took the bar and served as lead counsel and successfully resolved one of the largest cases in Federal Power Commission history—the Pennzoil-United Gas Pipeline spin-off. Following on that case, she represented the State of New York in multiple major energy cases in the tumultuous oil and gas shortages of the 1970s. Under President Carter, she became the first Director of Enforcement of the Federal Power Commission (which later became the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) and established the Enforcement Office of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Natural gas wellhead policy, natural gas pipeline regulation, wholesale electric transmission, hydro-electric facility licensing, and oil pipeline rate regulation all came under the Office of Enforcement’s review and compliance monitoring. Under her leadership, enforcement regulations and procedures were developed, the first criminal referrals taken, and an entirely new enforcement regime was put in place. As Director of the Office of Enforcement, Sheila was made a Charter Member, Senior Executive Service of the U.S. Government. Thereafter she returned to private practice and opened her own, woman-owned firm, which she merged with Duane Morris in 1997. She became the founding Managing Partner of the Duane Morris Washington D.C. office. Sheila has led many projects worldwide, taught energy law at George Washington University for 20 years and co-authored two energy law text books.
