Build your own earphones at Earbud 101, a workshop co-hosted by high-end audio products distributor Project Perfection and K+ Curatorial Space. This guided workshop features a DIY earphone kit designed by japanese earphone brand Final.Earbud 101 allows a rare glimpse into the inner workings of a pair of earphones, often perceived as a common listening device. This DIY earphone program is designed for participants to enjoy a meaningful understanding of the inner complexities of earphone design and manufacture through hands-on experimentation.Participants will be given a kit containing all the parts required for building and tuning a pair of in-ear type earphones.  This comprehensive kit includes required tools, tuning materials and an in-depth manual.  The event starts with an explanation of the science behind designing a pair of earphones and participants are guided by a facilitator as they experiment with and assemble the various materials in the kit. The difference in sound quality that occurs with each added part helps the participant to identify the relative effect that each component contributes to the perceived sound quality. The customised earphones can then be brought home for personal use.
