YOKOHAMA: Home to Japan’s Pioneers – Gateway to global business, open port city ※日本語は英語の下に記載されています※More than a century and a half ago, a US fleet arrived near a small fishing village called Yokohama on a mission to open up Japan to trade. This eventually transformed Yokohama into the nation’s second most populous city, making it home to some of the first communities of foreigners – Japan’s pioneers - and setting the stage for socio-cultural diversity. The City of Yokohama again embarks on a major initiative to welcome international entrepreneurs and new ventures with the Y-SHIP convention on March 23, 2023. This one-day hybrid online/on-site event welcomes keynote speakers and special guests all gathered to share their stories and thoughts on why Yokohama is a prime location to live and work.
