This multi-sensorial experience, which features sign language, audio description and ASMR, is underpinned by the “aesthetics of access,” an approach to artistic production in which accessibility considerations actively shape the final creation. Patterns of Perception is co-curated by Singapore Art Museum and Access Path founder and theatre-maker Grace Lee-Khoo, performer and musician Wheelsmith and ASMR artist Melinda Lauw (Whisperlodge).This programme is recommended for ages 16 years and up. This is not a seated performance, the group will be moving about the galleries and other areas of Tanjong Pagar Distripark.Other performance times:Saturday, 11 March 2023, 4.30pm-5.15pm - https://patternsofperception2.peatix.comAccessibility InformationSAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark is accessible to wheelchair users. Please indicate in the registration form if you would like the best view of the interpreter.ASMR-related Trigger Warnings (potential spoiler alert) During the performance, you may experience ASMR sounds such as plastic crinkling, mild flashing images, dimly-lit environments and briefly be in a crowded enclosed lift. You may choose to not participate in any of the activities during the performance, which may include closing your eyes for a period of time, placing your hand on another's shoulder, tasting a condiment and interacting with physical props. Please let staff or volunteers know before or during the performance should you have any concerns.About the performersGrace Lee-Khoo Founder of disability-led creative social enterprise Access Path and an applied theatre practitioner who works internationally, Grace completed her Master’s Degree in Applied Theatre at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. In 2017, Grace was International Artist-in-residence at Graeae Theatre Company – UK’s flagship disability-led inclusive theatre company. In 2019, she was appointed a Singapore International Foundation Fellow. Grace is an Associate Artist of David Glass Ensemble, an international collective of radical artists. She currently serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Wheelsmith is an award winning Music Producer, Rapper and wheelchair rugby player for Team Singapore. Last seen on stage with Katy Perry at the 2022 True Colours Festival in Tokyo, Wheelsmith made his debut as a sound engineer, composing soundscape and performing for the theatre production And Suddenly I Disappear: The Singapore/UK ‘d’ Monologues. He collaborated with Access Path for the Light to Night Festival 2020, starring in the National Gallery commission Self Portrait. Under Access Path Productions’ education and outreach platform, Wheelsmith conducts inclusive sound design and music-making (rap, hip hop and beat-boxing) workshops with youths and adults of all abilities.Melinda Lauw is an artist and experience designer working across art and immersive entertainment. She co-created the hit immersive ASMR production, Whisperlodge, which has performed 16 runs in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Singapore since 2016. Melinda has been featured in Netflix’s Follow This, PBS’s All Arts’ Immersive World, The New York Times, and has created experiences for brands such as Audible, 29 Rooms, and Marriott Hotel Group.
