English follows after Japanese駐日オランダ王国大使館は、『ズワルテンダイク・オランダ領事と「命のビザ」の知られざる原点』展を２月２３日（木）より３日間限定で開催します。本展示会では、広く知られることとなった杉原千畝日本領事の「命のビザ」の原点となり、キュラソー・ビザを生み出した人々に注目。その中心的存在でもあった、ヤン・ズワルテンダイク・オランダ領事。彼の息子である、ロブ・ズワルテンダイク氏協力のもと、今まであまり世の中に出ることのなかった物語を紹介します。パネル展示の他、当時の様子を写真や映像でご紹介すると同時に、ヤン・ズワルテンダイク・オランダ領事が当時使用していたパイプやインクセット、眼鏡、ヤド・バシェム受賞メダル等を日本で初公開します。【「命のビザ」の原点、キュラソー・ビザ】第二次世界大戦中のヨーロッパで、ユダヤ人は大きな危険にさらされ、その多くは故郷や国から逃げることでしか自らの命を守ることができませんでした。また、その移動には最終目的地のビザに加え、目的地までに通過する国の“通過ビザ”が必要でした。当時、リトアニアで領事をしていたヤン・ズワルテンダイクと杉原千畝は、そこで重要な役割を果たします。ズワルテンダイクは、南米にあるオランダ領キュラソー島への見せかけの“目的地ビザ”を発行し、杉原はそれに「命のビザ」と呼ばれる“通過ビザ”を追加したのです。彼らのおかげで、何千人ものユダヤ人が迫害と死から救われました。今日もなお、世界中で難民・避難民の人たちは紛争や迫害により故郷を追われています。本展示会が、難民問題への関心や理解を深めるため「平和と公正」な世界を実現するために、私たちができることを考えるきっかけになればと思います。＜注意事項＞· 完全予約制です、予約が無い方は入館できません。· 当日は身分証明書をご持参ください。・展示会場以外の立ち入りは禁止とさせていただきます。· 展示会場内での滞在時間は最大30分間とさせていただきます。· 敷地内での飲食・喫煙は禁止とさせていただきます。· 敷地内にご利用いただける駐車場はございません。· 写真撮影は可能ですが、周りの方へのご配慮をお願いします。・ 本展示会についてのお電話でのお問い合わせは受け付けておりません。ご了承下さい。＜新型コロナウイルス感染拡大防止対策にご協力下さい＞· 入館の際はマスクを着用下さい。· 入館時に体温チャックを受け、手を消毒して下さい。· 体調不良の方や体温が37.5度以上ある場合は、ご遠慮願います。The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Japan hosts the exhibition "The Curaçao Visa - Dutch Consul Zwartendijk and the hidden origins of Visas for Life"This exhibition focuses on the people who created the Curaçao Visa, the foundation of Sugihara’s “Visa for Life”. Jan Zwartendijk, Honorary Consul of the Netherlands in Lithuania was a key player in this process. With the cooperation of his son, Rob Zwartendijk, the Embassy presents a story that until now has rarely been told to the world. In addition to a panel exhibition, photos and videos of the period will be shown, as well as the pipe, ink set, glasses and Yad Vashem award medal used by Jan Zwartendijk. These objects will be on display in Japan for the first time.Curaçao Visa, the origin of the 'Visas for Life'During World War II in Europe, Jewish people were in great danger and could often only save their lives by fleeing their home and country. To travel, they needed visas. A visa for their final destination and another one, a transit visa, to travel through a country to get to their destination. Both were difficult to get. And to get a transit visa, you first had to have a destination visa.  Jan Zwartendijk and Chiune Sugihara, both working as consuls in Lithuania at the beginning of WW II, played a crucial role. Zwartendijk issued the “Curaçao Destination Visa” to which Sugihara could then add the transit visa known as the “Visa for Life”. Together they saved thousands of Jews from persecution and death.Today, refugees and displaced people are still forced to flee their homes due to conflict and persecution around the world.
