stage will play host to the Grand Prix collection from the Sakura Collection
Student Award held across 5 countries in Asia, and a refreshing repertoire
created from original Japanese fabric and dyes by eminent designers from
various Asian countries.
~An amalgamation of oriental beauty and
the majestic art of Noh - embodied by the Grand Prix collection~ This year, budding designers from the
Sakura Collection Asian Students Awards held in Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore,
Thailand and Indonesia will bring to you their Japanese-themed, original
designs. In an effort to encourage international cultural exchange, the Sakura
Collection 2017-2017 Final Event will welcome representatives from the 5
countries on 1st March 2018 - a culmination of growing interest and
participation from universities and vocational schools across Asia. This year, the show will be staged on the
renowned Hosho Nohgakudoh, the pinnacle of Noh in Japan. Our models from all
over Asia will be dressed in oriental designs and strutting down the runway in
traditional tabi (Japanese traditional socks, usually worn with the kimono) in
an impressionable mix of cultural beauty.
~Collaborative discovery of the infinite
possibilities of Japanese fabric + A Noh Workshop!~This event also brings together popular
designers from 6 countries in Asia, whose designs bring out the flavor of
Japanese textiles; you will experience this alongside the traditional Japanese
art form of Noh, accompanied by an informative session on the relationship
between the intricacies of Noh garments and Asian history.
The main organizers of this event are
various entities committed to civilian-led activities related to Japan and
Asia, beginning with the NPO ZESDA (Zipangu Economic System Design
Association). Our organizers are deeply involved in promoting Japan's
traditions, art and culture, and are also active ambassadors of international
cultural exchange.
We hope that you will be able to savor the
taste of Japan's traditional Noh as well as fashion, emboldened by the tinge of
various other Southeast Asian characteristics, in this precious time and space
like never before.
