Join Dr John Kwok and history enthusiast Saifullah as they bring you through the structures of Fort Connaught to explore how the coastal fortifications of Sentosa contributed to the defence of Singapore during the Japanese invasion of WWII. Participants will explore the grounds of the sole remaining gun battery (of the three built) of Fort Connaught and get a glimpse into the efforts to piece together aspects of the abandoned Fort's history and its role in the Battle for Singapore. This tour is presented in partnership with the Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC). About the GuidesDr John Kwok is a professional historian and has been part of the Battle for Singapore initiative since 2014. His research has helped to uncover the history of many war heritage sites in Singapore like Marsiling Tunnels and Attap Valley Bunker. In previous Battle for Singapore programmes, he conducted war heritage tours at the Former Admiralty House, Former View Road Hospital, and Fort Siloso in Sentosa.  Saifullah Kamaludin is a history enthusiast who has been with Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) since 2007. He currently co-leads the Culture and Heritage initiatives under the Sustainable Sentosa programme. Over the years, he has channeled his passion into his profession, contributing to the repository of knowledge on Sentosa’s rich heritage and bringing fresh perspectives and insights to the Sentosa story.
