And, it can be even more daunting and depressing around Valentine’s Day when we don’t have someone to share this day with. You’re NOT ALONE.FinS is hosting its ANNUAL NEW YEAR FEBRUARY BASH, this time called QUEER LOVE that happens to fall the day after Valentine's. So, we will be talking about QUEER LOVE and celebrating queer love with some fun prizes in our raffle, a guest speaker(s) and networking with VD-gifts (the good kind!!)!More details to follow but save the date. ADMISSION IS FREE (but we have an optional donation for those who want to support the LGBTQ+ chamber of commerce, PBAJ)Special Guest Panelists:- Mark Takano, Congressman for the 39th district of Californiahttps://takano.house.gov/Mark is an American politician and academic who has served in the United States House of Representatives since 2013, representing California's 41st congressional district from 2013 to 2023, and the state's 39th congressional district since 2023. At the time of his election, Takano became the first openly gay non-white member of the House and the first openly gay person of Asian descent in Congress. We will hear from Mark his journey from California to Congress, and how he, as the first openly gay Asian American elected to this office, overcame challenges to do so. Also, we will discuss his insights on matters such as education and coming out to equal marriage and LGBTQ+ equity: what are our community's most pressing issues? Do they differ widely from country to country? Are we still not making enough progress?
