Michelle Dorrance, solo artist and founder and Artistic Director of New York-based dance company Dorrance Dance, has toured the world as a tap dancer/performer/musician for two decades. Her award- winning company places at its core an aim to “honour tap dance’s uniquely beautiful history in a new, dynamic and compelling context” pushing it rhythmically, technically, and conceptually while respecting its origins and traditions. A dynamic powerhouse who performs, choreographs, directs and teaches, Michelle Dorrance grew up with a mother who is a classical ballet dancer and teacher, but segued into tap dancing at the age of three.
