Wagashi, or traditional Japanese confectionery, is much more than a sweet treat to go with a bowl of matcha (green tea). It is an art form that embodies the changing seasons of Japan. Through this workshop, participants will gain a basic overview of nerikiri, one of the many forms of wagashi, and bring home sweets made by their own hands.Ingredients used in this workshop:Lima beans and/or Cannellini BeansRed BeansWhite and brown sugarJapanese Glutinous Rice FlourGel food colouringThis programme is recommended for ages 13 and above. The tools provided are not included in the cost of ticket and will need to be returned to the facilitator after the workshop. About the facilitatorNadiah was first introduced to wagashi through Japanese anime and manga. She was captivated by the artistry and craftsmanship that went into a simple piece of confectionery. Her interest has led her to pursue several wagashi instructor certifications from the Japan Salonaise Association.
