It highlights the signicance of a single photograph in a time that tends to celebrate serialism. The founding artists of the manifesto, artist Marja Pirilä (b. 1957), Harri Pälviranta (b. 1971), Maija Annikki Savolainen (b. 1980) and Maija Tammi (b.1985) want to challenge their own ways of creating art as well as photographic practices in general. Italian artist Alessandro Danidini de Sylva (b.1981) joined the examination of a single photographic image at the exhibition organised by gallery Matèria at Spazio Duale at Istituto Superiore di Fotograa, and Japanese artist, Hideo Anze (b. 1975), conjoined the project at this exhibition held at Kana Kawanishi Photography. One picture is a work of art. It is concise and includes all that is needed.It suggests and reacts, provides responsesand renders new traits for thoughts.It is an opening and a closure.One picture.No more is needed. マルヤ・ピリラ　｜　Marja Pirilä1957年フィンランド、ロヴァニエミ生まれ。1986年、ヘルシンキ芸術デザイン大学（現アアルト大学）写真学部卒業。同年、ヘルシンキ大学数学自然科学部にて修士課程修了。1990年代よりカメラ・オブスキュラ技術を専門的に用いて作品を制作。主な個展に『Light and Darkness -camera obscura projects』（2018年、Gallery Toolbox、ドイツ・ベルリン）、『In Strindberg's Rooms』（2018年、Gallery Heino、フィンランド・ヘルシンキ）、『In Strindberg's Rooms』（2018年、Northern Photographic Centre、フィンランド・オウル）、『In Strindberg's Rooms』（2017年、Serlachius Museum Gösta、フィンランド・マンタ）など。主なグループ展に『インナー・ランドスケープス、トーキョー』（2021年、東京都渋谷公園通りギャラリー、東京）、『Traces』（2021年、Rovaniemi Art Museum、フィンランド・ロヴァニエミ）など。Artist Marja Pirilä has specialized in the camera obscura technique since the 1990s. Pirilä is known for the dreamlike photographs with merging of interior and exterior worlds. Her extensive production with a range of different projects has always a focus on light and its power to entrance. Pirilä graduated in 1986 as a photographer from the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, Finland and as Master of Science from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Helsinki. Pirilä’s works have been exhibited in Europe, North and South America and Asia. Her work is included in several major public and private collections. Pirilä was awarded the State Prize for Photographic Art in 2000 and Alfred Kordelin foundation award in 2020. Her work has been published in a retrospective photo book Carried by Light (2014).マイヤ・アンニッキ・サヴォライネン｜Maija Annikki Savolainen1980年フィンランド、トゥルク生まれ。2014年、アアルト大学（ヘルシンキ）芸術・デザイン・建築学部にて修士課程修了。生物学を学んだ背景を起点に自然科学と美術表現を掛け合わせながら、写真、テキスト、石、植物などの多岐にわたるメディウムを用いた作品を制作。フィンランド国内および世界各地の展示に広く参加している。直近の展示歴にFutures（アムステルダム）、IMAGO Lisboa Photo Festival（ポルトガル、リスボン）など。作品集に『When the Sense of Belonging is Bound to a System of Movement』（2014年、Kehrer Verlag、ドイツ）など。自身の活動と並行して様々なコラボレーションを行っている。現在、アアルト大学写真学科修士課程にて教員を務める。Maija Annikki Savolainen is a visual artist working with photography, text, stones, and green plants. She gained her Master of Arts in Photography from Aalto University in 2014. With a background studying biology, her work tends to combine natural sciences and art in a distinctive way. Photographic gestures and light-induced communication technologies are at the core of her practices. Her works have been on exhibition widely in Finland and abroad, most recently in the Futures -platform in Amsterdam and IMAGO Lisboa -festival in Lisbon. She has published a monograph with the title When the Sense of Belonging is Bound to a System of Movementin 2014 by Kehrer Verlag. Alongside her own practice she has been working in various collaborations: One Picture Manifesto, Kinship photo, Trojan Horse Summer School, and Maanantai-collective.
