How can we volunteer our skills in the arts to benefit and provide relief for vulnerable communities? What opportunities are there for involvement in therapeutic art projects without being a certified art therapist?Join us for an evening with Hallie Morrison of Chiang Mai-based non-profit Art Relief International as she leads us through a hands-on activity to experience the benefits of art therapy and shares stories about working on art projects with vulnerable communities, how art plays an important role in empowering them and provides a means of expression for refugees and migrants, people with disabilities and at-risk single mothers and men.Gain insights into how the arts can be a source of healing and relief for people of communities that have experienced traumatic events, and how you do not necessarily have to have a professional degree in art therapy to play your part in activating the creativity of people in their own self-healing. Take-away with you the knowledge of how you might leverage on the arts -whether visual, dance, or music - to inject creativity and play into your workspace to benefit the people in your own community.Seats are limited, so please inform us if you have reserved a ticket but will no longer be able to attend so we can free up the space for someone else! This public lecture is part of the "Be Inspired" programme at A Good Space - a community-curated public space at NVPC, co-hosted by Founding Curator Anthea Ong.It aims to transform ordinary spaces into places of purpose by convening catalysts of change to invent, innovate, intersect and inspire communities through a variety of events, experiential simulations, activities, film screenings and more.Speaker:Hallie Morrison graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and is currently the Director of Art Relief International (ARI), an artistic outreach non-profit organisation that works with a wide range of social groups and humanitarian organisations in Chiang Mai.
