新加坡与中国在1990年建立邦交后，各种背景与类型的中国新移民抵达新加坡，成为数量众多的一个族群，构成不容忽视的现象。本讲座检阅历史脉络，观照新移民与主流社会的互动，随之形构的族群界线、牵动的资源分配。聚焦于新移民的社会组织与各种群体，揭示他们如何分层融入，不断形塑身份认同，拥有多种未来走向的可能性。Since Singapore established diplomatic ties with China in 1990, Chinese migrants of various backgrounds and types have arrived in Singapore, forming a numerically significant ethnic group and a remarkable phenomenon.  This public lecture examines the new Chinese migrants from historical perspective and investigates how they interact with the mainstream society in a process of reshaping ethnic boundaries and reconfiguring resources. The focus is on their social organisations and in-groups.
