Including the Batik Kita: Dressing in Port Cities special exhibition, the tour will shed light on ACM’s fashion and textile collection. About the speaker Hafiz is an experienced museum docent who has been volunteering with NHB since 2013. He has conducted tours at the Malay Heritage Centre, National Library, and the Eurasian Heritage Gallery. He is interested in the history, culture, folklore, and languages of the Malay Archipelago (Nusantara) with a special focus on the textile traditions of this region. He is also an avid textile collector; his collection includes Javanese batiks, ikats from Flores & Timor, and malongs from Mindanao. He is often seen wearing these textiles on his tours and incorporates them in his storytelling, sharing the stories behind their motifs and designs – stories with deep links to the past. Please note that this is a paid programme.
