Their response: “Does it even exist?” Now a few years wiser, I still don’t have a complete answer to such a question, simply a better picture of how Malaysian writers connect and respond to each other over the past century. In this talk, I read T.S. Eliot, Lloyd Fernando, Wong Phui Nam, Malachi Edwin Vethamani, and several other contemporary poets in relation to tradition, or, seasons of poetry.Brandon K. Liew is a doctoral researcher at the University of Melbourne where he lectures on Malaysian history, literature, and emerging cultural productions across the Asia-Pacific. He publishes scholarly work on Malaysian Literary History and the global Malaysian novel, as well as poetry, essays, and reviews of Malaysian books.Updatestag:peatix.com,2022-08-25 04:49:532022-08-25 04:49:53The event description was updated.
