Heard of Bukit Brown Cemetery being dug up for the construction of a new highway? Well.. yes - some parts have been dug up; but a lot remains. But what's there to talk about - it's a cemetery, right? Nothing to see or do. Definitely nothing to buy...Well, ease your way back into the working week by joining Darren for a walk in Bukit Brown that will introduce you to the history and heritage found in those graves. Listen to the story a grave itself reveals - even before we read a word off the tombstone. Learn how many different calendars exist. Listen to the lives of people - from coolies to bankers, from landlords to war heroes. Take Buses 151, 156 or 170A for 2 stops till Coronation Plaza. Cross over the overhead bridge to the bus-stop Opp Coronation Plaza bus-stop #41049 on Dunearn Road. Take Buses 74, 157, 852 for 3 stops and alight at Bef SICC on Adam Road bus-stop #41141. Cross the road on the overhead bridge to Sime Road (the portion across the street). Follow the road until you see a sign "Temporary Cemetery Access - Block 2,5" This should be the first left down a dirt road.By car:Turn in from Lornie Road, to Sime Road. Then, turn left into the first road (block 2,5 entrance), where parking is limited along the roadside. Try to use public transport to get there.
