Expect a slower-paced stretching-focused class with some basic breathing exercises and a brief seated meditation. Hatha yoga is a good place to work on your alignment, learn relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with doing yoga while building strength and flexibility. What to expect in a typical Hatha Yoga session?A typical 45mins training session starts with seated meditation and breathing exercises to relax the mind and body. This is followed by warm ups which gently leads to slightly more challenging poses such as the sun salutations, warrior, boat, bridge, triangle, camel - just to name a few. There is never a competition and participants should not feel compelled to perform any pose. Poses should come naturally when the body is ready. The session winds down to 5 to 10 minutes of relaxation (warm down) and mindfulness to end the class. While practising Hatha Yoga, you will require:(i) A yoga mat of adequate thickness and density to place on the floor for protection of your spine; (ii) A flat cushion or small folded towel to aid body alignments, if necessary.(iii) A bottle of waterCost: $5Facilitator: Ying Jie received her training from the established Avatar School of Yoga in Rishikesh, India.
