Music Salon Emmanuel proudly presents An Evening of Art Songs: "Les chemins de l'amour" on the 10th July 2022, 6pm. Get a chance to watch a collaboration of two international musicians and award-winning artists – the soprano Maria Gessler (Switzerland) and the pianist Kseniia Vokhmianina (Ukraine/Singapore). The programme includes compositions by Duparc, Debussy, Rachmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Satie and Poulenc.About Maria Gessler - Soprano (Switzerland)Born in Basel, Switzerland, Maria Gessler studied singing with Verena Schweizer at the Music Academy in Basel.Simultaneously she studied Baroque performance practice with Rene Jacobs at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.She went on to be a member of the opera studio Basel and attended masterclasses with Edith Mathis, AnnaReynolds, Brigitte Fassbaender, and Margreet Honig. She was twice awarded the Migros-Scholarship in the courseof her studies. Following her studies, Maria Gessler has been engaged as a principal artist in several Germanopera houses singing a wide variety of lyrical and dramatic soprano roles including the Countess in Mozart's "Lenozze di Figaro", Hanna Glawari in Lehar’s "Lustige Witwe", Nedda in Leoncavallo’s "Pagliacci", Marschallin inStrauss's “Rosenkavalier”, and the leading role in Puccini’s "Tosca".Maria performed as a guest artist in several European opera houses, appearing as Tatjana in Tchaikovsky’s"Eugene Onegin" in Wuppertal (Germany), Cio-Cio-San in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly in Stettin (Poland), Eva inWagner's "Meistersinger" under Gustav Kuhn at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl (Austria), the Mother in Humperdinck's"Hänsel und Gretel" in Basel (Switzerland) and Beethoven's “Fidelio-Leonore” at the opera-festival in Bad Hersfeld(Germany). Maria Gessler’s operatic work is complemented by a large oratorio repertoire and she has anestablished reputation as an interpreter of Lied. Her recital programmes have received international acclaim. Awonderful music collaboration between Maria and Kseniia began during voice masterclasses conducted by Mariaat the School of the Arts in Singapore, and led both artists to perform numerous concerts in several countries,including Germany, Switzerland, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.Maria is currently teaching voice students as well as leading a special class for "Lied Interpretation" at the MimarSinan University (Istanbul, Turkey).About Kseniia Vokhmianina - Piano (Ukraine/Singapore)Hailed as a performer with an “artistry of the highest order” by Straits Times and “maturity of musicianship and virtuosity” by Pianomania, Kseniia Vokhmianina has gained critical and audience attention as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician.A prizewinner of numerous piano competitions held in France, Australia, Poland, Italy, Serbia, Indonesia, Singapore, Germany, Kseniia has been a guest artist in various international music festivals, including “Convivium Musicum” (Serbia), “International Piano Festival” (Vietnam), “Days of Music” (Montenegro), “George Town Festival” (Malaysia), “International Holland Music Sessions” (Netherlands), “Pablo Casals Festival” (France). She appeared as a concerto soloist with international symphony orchestras, including Kaunas Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (Lithuania), Sichuan Symphony Orchestra (China), Murmansk Philharmonic Orchestra (Russia).Kseniia Vokhmianina began her music training at a very young age in her native Ukraine. She studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts under Prof. Boris Kraljevic as a recipient of the Lee Foundation Scholarship. Further studies took her to the Royal College of Music (United Kingdom), Kharkiv National Pedagogical University (Ukraine), and Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland where she was taught by Prof. Konstantin Scherbakov.Kseniia has been a full-time Music Faculty member at the School of the Arts (SOTA) in Singapore since 2014. A dedicated music educator, she conducts individual piano lessons, masterclasses, and lectures on various aspects of music performance. Her students win local and international music competitions as well as succeed at various music examinations. Her love for musical collaboration led her to initiate the “By Candlelight” chamber music series in connection with the Arts House (Singapore).Since 2018 she has been the President of the World Piano Teachers Association (Singapore affiliate). She is often invited to jury at regional and international piano competitions. In 2022 Kseniia joined Emmanuel & Sons as a Senior Music Director.
