They will include the UOB's 2017 showcase of award winning categories and artists from several South East Asian countries. In particular, come and appreciate the prestigious 2017 Painting of the Year by Thai artist Sukit Choosri called ‘One Life’ (see picture above), which aims to open the mind of the viewer to see beyond the immediate.History: learn about the Telok Ayer Basin reclamation and transformation of the 1820s timber-and-attap old market to the cast-iron filigree beauty of today’s Lau Pa Sat food court. Plus the pioneering entrepreneurs of Market St, the Chettiars - from how they did business including setting their interest rates, to their kavadi carriers’ stopping point at Indian Banks on the eve of Thaipusam.Architecture: landmarks include @Raffles Place, the morphed Ocean Financial Centre and @Cecil St, 1930s former regional HQ of a Chinese bank and The Black Swan grand bistro and bar. We'll also visit an adaptive reuse with magic touches by an international fashion designer and hear about the building’s heritage, as well as get acquainted with a Platinum award BCA Green Mark Commercial Building designed by the winner of a Pritzker Prize (architecture’s highest honour, modelled after the Nobel prize).
