So, What is FinTech Finals-18?

This event is brought to you by NextMoney.Org and VISA. It will be held in Hong Kong, on the 30th and 31st of January 2018. This annual event has been the catalyst of growth for many FinTech companies to feature their name on a global scale and create waves in the FinTech Industries.

We are proud to bring you the FF18 Semi-Finals Pitching Competition on this December at PIKOM Office, Damansara Perdana PJ.

Stephen Chian NEM

1st Presenter - Stephen Chia, Regional Head of South East Asia for NEM Foundation
Topic: NEM vs Conventional Blockchain by Stephen Chia, Regional Head NEM Foundation

Stephen is a Council Member / Regional Head – SE Asia for the NEM.IO Foundation. NEM.IO Foundation is an IT foundation with the NEM blockchain technology.

NEM blockchain is one of the pioneers of open source & community-based blockchain technology that is used by enterprises, universities and governments utilising advanced cryptography in executing transactions that spans across the internet. NEM.IO Foundation oversees the promotion, adoption and support use of NEM blockchain technology around the world. The NEM community are also the creators of the XEM cryptocurrency which is now widely circulated & traded on multiple cryptocurrency exchanges with an overall market capitalisation of over US$2.2billion, as at June 2017.

Stephen is a serial entrepreneur, investor, CEO and co-founder of various companies in trading, ISP, technology, manufacturing & property development. He will helm the Blockchain Centre Malaysia which will house the NEM Blockchain Technology Lab & co-working space for blockchain startups which will be funded by the recently announced NEM Venture Fund.

2nd Presenter - Jason Phua, Head of Sales, VISA Malaysia
Topic: How VISA partners with the FinTech community in Malaysia [Business Expansion]

Jason Phua is Head of Business Development for Visa Malaysia. In his current role, Jason leads the team of Business Development Leaders in deepening client partnership and strengthening Visa’s market leadership position in Malaysia.

Prior to this role, Jason was the Business Development Leader, taking charge of several key client accounts. Jason joined Visa in February 2013, and was instrumental in driving Visa payWave adoption through the client banks’ key merchants in Malaysia. He was also responsible for the issuance of new Visa payWave cards with key issuers and helped his clients launch several first-in-market solutions including Visa Checkout, Visa Direct, Visa Token Service and mobile payments.

With more than 20 years of experience, Jason joined Visa from Microsoft’s SMS&P (Small & Midmarket Solutions & Partners) segment as their Cloud Business Development Lead. In his stint at Microsoft, he drove sales of their Office 365 suite of productivity solutions, as well as InTune, and Azure services through Microsoft distributors and Advisor Partners. Jason also held senior positions at regional payment services and infrastructure company, GHL Systems, as their GM for Product Management & Marketing; Sales and Consulting roles at International Data Corp (IDC) and software project management and development at ACNielsen.

Jason is a business graduate of Curtin University of Technology, majoring in Marketing and Management.
