Set in Singapore during World War Two, The House on Silat Road tells the adventures and experiences of nine-year-old Sing and her family during the Japanese Occupation. The book is based on the actual childhood of 89-year-old author Si-Hoe S.S., and brings readers into the life of an ordinary family during those tumultuous times.Join us for a dialogue session with authors Mdm Si-Hoe and her daughter Sim Ee Waun, as they share more about Mdm Si-Hoe’s wartime experiences and their process of writing and collaboration to create the children’s book The House on Silat Road.This programme is organised in conjunction with the special exhibition Dislocations: Memory and Meaning of the Fall of Singapore, 1942. Recommended for participants aged 13 and up. $5 per pax includes sharing session with light refreshments provided.
