Join us where art meets archaeology!In this 2-hour workshop led by NTU CCA Singapore Artist-in-Residence Fazleen Karlan, children will act as both artists in the present, and archaeologists from the future. Participants, together with their guardian, will create their own artefact using an object of their choosing. Reversing the process where archaeologists dig and reconstruct fragmented pieces, participants will instead use clay, sand sediments, and paints, to mimic the rock layers that form around objects over time, thereby turning an object from the present, into a relic for the future! In the process, participants will put themselves in the shoes of archaeologists and learn how meanings and histories can be inferred from different items. The workshop will encourage participants to stretch the meaning of everyday objects across different temporalities and reflect on what we leave behind for future generations.Date: 18 June 2022, SaturdayTime: 10:00am - 12:00pmVenue: NTU CCA Singapore, Residencies Studios, Block 37 Malan Road, #01-01, Singapore 109452Free Admission (conditions below)Notes:·       This programme is ideal for adult-child pairs.
