My first encounter with Prouvé’s work was in Paris around 40 years ago. I remember clearly the shock I’d felt when I chanced on it. From then on my collection has continued to grow, and even after all these years, being surrounded by and spending my day-to-day life among such fascinating pieces of furniture continues to be a source of my energy.” Tamotsu Yagi18:30  Doors open19:00  Talk begins19:30  Talk ends19:40  Book signing20:00  Event endsThe special edition with an alternate red cover of <Chariots on Fire Press No. 2 “CHARLOTTE PERRIAND and JEAN PROUVÉ A COLLECTION of TAMOTSU YAGI”> will be available at BIBLIOTHECA to coincide with its launch. Also, the first 40 customers who purchase the book will be given complimentary tote bags from Chariots on Fire Press, specially made by CHACOLI to carry the book.Entrance : Free entry『Chariots on Fire Press No. 2 “CHARLOTTE PERRIAND and JEAN PROUVÉ A COLLECTION of TAMOTSU YAGI”』(BIBLIOTHECA Special Edition)4,950yen inc Tax.Tamotsu YagiTamotsu Yagi moved to America in 1984 at the invitation of Douglas Tompkins and became the art director of the clothing company Esprit. Through his innovative designs for packaging, products, and retail shops, Tamotsu is credited with creating the iconic “Spirit graphic look,” which helped the company win the AIGA design leadership award in 1986, and in 1990 he became one of the youngest members of the Alliance Graphique International. In 1991, he founded Tamotsu Yagi Design in San Francisco. By 1995, more than 100 of his design works have been selected to be included in the permanent selection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), and an installation of his works has been featured at the museum for its opening exhibition. That same year, Tamotsu received a contribution award from the US government given to artists of Asian Heritage. His representative works include the art direction for Fondation Beyeler (designed by Renzo Piano), concept design for the Apple Store commissioned by Steve Jobs, and the art direction for the exhibition "Shiro Kuramata and Ettore Sottsass" at 21_21 Design Sight (designed by Tadao Ando). We are known for sparking the imagination and stirring the senses with our presentation of finds — often made in collaboration with other like-minded creators. We are propelled by a collectors spirit to connect with the past and a designers grasp of the upcoming and present-day.The Chariots on Fire æsthetic calls for new and uncharted geographies of the modern. We celebrate individuality. Unique objet d’art to simple luxuries appear in free-flowing, yet considered rotation to bring vibrance to your habitat and well being.Ritsuko Yagi, the director of Chariots on Fire is a graduate of Central Saint Martins, London with a B.A. in Graphic Design. Yet even before this, from an early age, she was introduced by her father, himself a graphic designer, to a world where each object was inseparable from a larger visual language; where the shape and color of a radish, for example, offered a lesson in creative thought.Ritsuko was born in Tokyo; at the age of six, she moved with her family to San Francisco. Each place has imprinted itself upon her in a way Yagi describes as succinctly ‘minimalist/maximalist;’ there are contrasting energies to each location — about life, and how it is to be lived. Curious by nature, Yagi seeks beauty within such places. Ritsuko is passionate for forging inspired connections between people, things and ideas — to the yielding of amazing discoveries. Ritsuko lives in Venice, LA, California. Updates tag:peatix.com,2022-04-02 01:47:46 2022-04-02 01:47:46 イベント詳細情報を更新しました。 Diff#1198658
