WORKSHOP 1: Learning English through the Arts (with Ice Cream, DIY Robots & creating your own comic strip! Practise creativity, imagination, and persuasive writing! 9.00am- 9.30am: Basics of Ice-Cream makingParticipants will learn to make their own ice cream. The ice-cream churning starts here!9.30- 10.00am: Create your own secret recipeYounger kids will learn nouns and adjectives and write their own recipes while older kids will head to Albert Street next door to purchase their own special ingredients (children are given the secret budget in the morning). Note: Children can opt out of the mini excursion if parents are not comfortable. There will be at least 2 teachers accompanying them at all times in our selected shop.10-10.30am: Prepare the secret ingredients 10.30- 11am: Mixing time!11-12pm: Tell us how your Ice-Cream tastes in your “Foodblog” post! Win us over with your persuasive article on why your ice-cream shop is the best! Younger kids will practise basic grammar and work on nouns and adjectives. We will also practise our sentence construction by writing a small card to mummy and daddy and telling them how yummy our ice-cream is!Thurday, Day 2 “Meet Mr Robot, My hero!”Lesson Objective: Design your own special robot and learn to develop a plot in narrative writing that is creative and imaginative. 9.00am- 10.30am: Design Your Own Robot Light-Up CanvasParticipants will learn to make their own Robot Light-Up Canvas. This will help children be more inspired in the next component of composition writing. 10.30am- 12.00pm: Creative English WritingUsing the robot character they have formed, participants will be taught how to brain storm and write a story development. Friday, Day 3 “My Own Comic Strip! I can be the next Stan Lee!” Learning Objective: Design your own comic strip onto a Tote bag and learn about creative expression and phrases.9.00am- 10.00am: Create your own comic character and comic stripParticipants will be taught how to design their own cartoon character and comic strip.
