During the Japanese Occupation, one of the Sook Ching screening centres was located at Jalan Besar. Prior to that, it was a major fundraising site for the Sino-Japanese War. Join Mr Lee Kok Leong in this morning walk from Lavender MRT Station to the Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital, where he will share more about the lesser-known facts about the Jalan Besar neighbourhood during the Second World War, including where Mr Lee Kuan Yew was believed to have hidden from the Japanese after he was ordered to be screened.About the GuideMr Lee Kok Leong is the curator for the Kwong Wai Siew Peck San Theng Heritage Gallery and the Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital Heritage Gallery.
