The 20th Unleashing Your Genius event comes as an extra special Music in the Dark experience.

Showcasing different sounds and artists, this evening will host dimmer lights and eye covers / blindfolds for everyone. This is our invitation for you to pause your primary sense of sight, to take in your musicians’ creative self expressions through your other senses. This is your chance to feel the heart, soul, and vibrations of the music as it moves through you like never before.

Enjoy this opportunity to focus on the lyrics, vocals, featured instruments, and supporting equipment - as isolated, powerful instruments of sound and art, as well as creative components that together make up a moving masterpiece in harmony.

Experience genius like never before, from the intimate soul and heart space of our artists.

‘Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.’ ~Albert Einstein.

We all have genius within us. Yet knowing you have a genius within doesn't make picking up a guitar or mic any easier. On the contrary, if we believe that "art" is for "artists" only, we live only as an observer and dreamer.

On Tues, October 10th evening, you'll hear how these artists found their way to let art into their lives. Unique stories of self-expression, we promise you’ll leave inspired to unleash your own genius!

Join us for a shot of creative inspiration, for soulful conversations with old and new friends over coffee/drinks, and for a night that’ll inspire you to unleash your own genius. Come alone, or bring friends. Either way, you’ll meet a new crowd to mingle with. And as always, feel free to join the artists afterwards to freestyle and create fun music on the fly!

5) Shaun Yong - singer-songwriter

“I started doing music when i was 17. That was when i self learned guitar through youtube videos which led to singing as well. At that point of time, youtube was everything as it taught me everything i knew today. Musicians like David Choi, Jeremy Passion and Gabe Bondoc were the biggest influences on the music i play now, even on my singing style.

Music to me is a hobby but also a way to express my inner feelings that I’ve kept hidden. Guys are really good with keeping their emotions hidden but through music, everything could be let free with no worries. It becomes a conversation between me and my guitar and a story for the ones who listens in. Through the music i play, i hope to share these stories through the emotions conveyed from my voice and guitar. I think in a way, everyone can relate to the language known as music.”

Isaac’s repertoire consists of Pop Billboard Top 40 hits, indie acoustic favourites, and easy listening tunes that cater to all ages. 7) Remington Cooney - acoustic folk flavored with blues-style harmonica

“I found my love for music through my Dad. He always had great CD's playing in the car and in the family home when I was growing up in Adelaide. That music stuck with me for life: particularly Aussie bands like Crowded House, Men at Work. It was also my Dad who introduced me to the guitar at age 11. He bought me my first guitar and taught me my first songs.

I discovered my style of songwriting when I was about the age of 17. I had already been playing guitar for 6 years, but was just mimicking and not creating my own music. My lead singer from my band encouraged my songwriting skills and helped me shape my 'sound' which is still developing to this day.

Playing music is something I've tried to 'give up' or cut down on for one reason or another throughout my life - whether it be due to lack of time, resources, or just being fed up with creative blocks. However, time and time again it always beckons me back, as if I can't really get away - which makes sense because it’s a big chunk of who I am. So stepping back in to more music is always an act of surrender, rather than a conscious choice. But it's a sweet surrender.”
