Participants will learn an excerpt of a choreography that will be featured in the upcoming new production, “Anwesha, beyond the darkness!” that expounds the topic mental wellness through dance theatre.About the FacilitatorKavitha Krishnan has many years of Indian Classical (Bharatha Natyam) dance training. Trained as an Occupational Therapist, Kavitha presents herself as a dance artist today and she is also the Creative Director Apsara Asia Pte Ltd an arts management and performances company.In 2002, 2003, and 2006 Kavitha represented Singapore for ASEAN Flagship Production, ‘Realizing Rama’ a contemporary dance production artistic directed by award winning choreographer Denisa Reyes from Philippines and was part of the international tours of the work.Kavitha co-created and performed PATH at the Accidental Festival in London, UK and also toured Singapore and Malaysia with the production GREY, and the company (2013). Over the past 10 years, as resident choreographer and artistic director of Maya Dance Theatre, Kavitha has presented her works internationally as part of Singapore’s contemporary dance scene. She also mentors young choreographers and dancers; and present their works at RELEASE, an emerging choreographer’s platform curated and managed by the company.Kavitha teaches in schools and dance institutions in Singapore. She has worked with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts dance division and Dr Caren Carino, Head of Dance at NAFA to create the module on Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) programme establishment in 2013.
