Seeing ______ Through the Eyes of Impermanence asks a critical question about these extraordinary times: how do we embrace impermanence with bravery and compassion? This upcoming double bill by The Human Expression (T.H.E) Dance Company surfaces hidden stories and perspectives in our struggle with change, bringing together acclaimed choreographer Albert Tiong and up-and-coming choreographer Anthea Seah, formerly a full-time artist with T.H.E immersed in the company’s HollowBody training.In Us, Tiong takes audiences on a journey through memory to ponder upon the chance encounters that indelibly shape who we become. Be it love, happiness, heartbreak or regret, like messengers across time, these individuals leave their prints in the stories of our lives. If you were to meet them again, what would you say?In An Impression, Seah draws from the dream-like paintings of Van Gogh, Monet and Shelly Tsang to generate poetic scenes that evoke the idea of inevitability. With startling nuance, five artists situated on a canvas create moving vignettes of everyday situations breaking down or coming apart to include what’s beyond. Held at the Esplanade Theatre Studio, audiences will be able to enjoy four in-venue shows, along with two exclusive live-streamed sessions. Each live-streamed session will be enhanced by audio description and creative captioning. Poignant but ultimately hopeful, Seeing ______ Through the Eyes of Impermanence is set to be a reflective evening of contemporary dance that offers a balm to these ever-changing times.
