Hello Moms, Dads, Babes and Friends! Steffi is Turning ONE! We had originally planned to do a charity event, to visit a local Children's Home, sponsor a tea and bring gifts for the kids there. Our idea was to honour Steffi's birthday by giving to others and in a way, appreciate how privileged we are. I had floated this idea to friends and many of you had agreed to participate.However, we have faced real challenges identifying a home in Singapore despite many attempts. Places we have contacted have either told us it's not encouraged to come with families or only adults above 18 years of age are welcomed. It has been discouraging to carry this out.As a result, we are going to continue making a small donation to one of our favourite organizations, The Girl Effect, reminding us that girls are the most powerful force for change on this planet. Steffi is indeed privileged and has everything that she needs (and then some!) but there are many girls in the world who struggle. If we do our small part and contribute, 600 million girls in the developing world will do the rest.If you live in Singapore, please join Steffi's play group on Tuesday at 5PM in Kent Vale for some birthday noodles, cooked lovingly by her grandmother.
