RACING TO ZERO (feature film)This quick-moving, upbeat documentary examines our society's garbage practices in terms of consumption, preparation, use and production, and discovers new solutions to the global problem of waste. Three years ago, the mayor of San Francisco pledged to achieve zero waste by 2020. Racing to Zero tracks San Francisco’s waste stream diversion tactics and presents innovative new solutions to waste. Cities all over the globe have instituted zero-waste policies of their own. Through these mandates, we are challenged to think differently about not only how we handle our garbage, but what it can become. By simply substituting the word 'resource' for the word 'garbage', a culture can be transformed and new industries can emerge. LOST IN LIGHT (short film)The night skies remind us of our place in the Universe, that we are a tiny part of this cosmos. But most of us live under heavily light-polluted skies, and some have never seen the Milky Way before. We take the skies for granted and are rather lost in our busy lives without much care for the view of the stars. Imagine if we lived under skies full of stars, the special connection with this remarkable world would make us much better beings - more thoughtful, inquisitive, empathetic, kind and caring. 50 seats will be kept available for walk-in guests on the day of the screening, so come early if you can't get tickets online!* Entry to the ArtScience Museum is free for the Singapore Eco Film Festival screenings and workshops.
