(For the non-Singlish speakers, 'Piak' is Singlish for the sound created by a slapping action, which is also the action used by players to snap down on the cards). In this workshop, kids will get to design their very own identical game cards and then add their own cards to a pile to play with other kids. This promotes group interaction and communication among the kids. We will also have our own mini Kampung (old-school) snacks kiosk comprising of favourites such as kacang puteh and traditional snacks for refreshments. So make sure to join us for some Kampung (old-school) fun! This workshop is best suited for kids 6 and up! Parents are welcome to sit in during the session or drop-off.*Photo via Meetup.comThis workshop is led by Hui Ling Lim. It's truly amazing to see what students can do when they have an out-of-a-box thinker of a workshop lead like Hui Ling. She is our go-to for anything hands-on and artsy and it's no wonder our team has dubbed her the craft queen! Hui Ling started her own subscription box business catering to kids through literacy and art but now focuses her time between her new venture, Petit Fab, and with our community of youth!*The cost operates on a play-it-forward model - where your child's fee will cover the cost of another youth to attend either the same workshop or one we hold in future. With limited spaces available, booking is essential. We have an introductory rate available for this session.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -About Beyond Awesome: While we are aware of the increasing pressure of students to perform well academically in Singapore, we believe it is not everything. Our definition of success is to see each student's emotional intelligence, resilience, confidence and compassion for others be developed throughout our program offerings and to ensure that compassion + empathy are the DNA of every class we run. There is no such thing as a 'quiet classroom' at our headquarters as we believe learning takes place through communication amongst peers, collaboration and learn-by-doing (and failing)! We run programs such as mindfulness, sport + wellness, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture + Math) and provide once in a lifetime opportunities for our students to personally visit inspiring, innovative, big-name corporates and brands like Twitter. At Beyond Awesome, students explore the world around them and discover friendships and their potential in life. Our program goals are to nurture and develop each student in our care, so that they leave with the skills, knowledge and attitude necessary to be a world-ready individual in today's fast changing era. We combine uniquely big opportunities through offerings such as our 'JalanJalan' experiences with personalised care and individual attention.Students from high-need communities attend our sessions at no cost, many of whom these opportunities would not be accessible given their families financial background.More details: www.beyondawesomesea.com
