Art Event: BUNRAKU-Japan's Oldest Puppet Theater


Let's immerse ourselves into Japan’s cultural tradition – BUNRAKU!

National Theater has offered HBS Club of Japan a group discount and we’re opening it up to those who are interested in our culture in the Harvard community. Originally formed in early 17th Century, BUNRAKU is an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO) and is considered one of the most sophisticated puppet theater arts in the world. Tickets are hard to obtain!

Date/Time: September 16 (Sat) 11:00am-15:30 pm (including lunch break)

Venue: National Theater (4-1, Hayabusacho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo Tel: 3265-7411)

Program: Sho Utsushi Asagao Banashi (生写朝顔話)- fascinating love story by Yamada no Kakashi. English/Japanese audio phone guides available at 700 yen at the theatre.
