How do we dress these fleeting, ever-changing versions of ourselves? Are all shadows the same or are they constantly changing with our environment and the people we are with? Shadowear is a collection of 7 fashion looks based on clothing made for our “shadows”. Shadowear is a collection by Romanian fashion designer Dinu Bodiciu of 7 fashion looks based on clothing made for our “shadows”. This cross-cultural project sees Bodiciu, who has fashioned the hats of the cult Hollywood series Hunger Games and dressed American pop icon Lady Gaga, collaborating with Singaporean artists, Bani Haykal and Lee Mun Wai to produce a performance that replaces the conventional catwalk in fashion. Animated by music and performance,Shadowear challenges our conventional definition of what it means to get dressed. This new fashion line makes us think about how we relate to ourselves and to each other, but also what it means for fashion to be cross-cultural and produced across different artistic languages.BiosDinu Bodiciu is a Romanian-born designer, currently living and working in Singapore at the Lasalle College of the Arts. His clothing has been famously worn by Lady Gaga and he is more known for designing hats in the Hunger Games movie series. He designs garments and hat collections that challenge the way we think about the relationship between the human body and clothing. His ready-to-wear line of luxury baseball caps is stocked by renowned international boutiques from Colette in Paris to Ca4La in Tokyo, Superspace in Singapore and The Refinery in Hong Kong. www.dinubodiciu.comLee Mun Wai is an independent dance artist. He was a founding member and full time dance artist with T.H.E. Dance Company from 2008 to 2015. In 2014, he was a recipient of the Young Artist Award. His practice considers how choreography, body and performance relate to socio-political environments, making visible the invisible or marginalised in communities. Bani Haykal experiments with text and music. Working with a broad range of instruments, his projects challenge the ways we think about interfaces and what it means to interact with technology and music. He is a member of b-quartet and Soundpainting ensemble Erik Satay & The Kampong Arkestra.
