Dr. Branch's Clinical Cases in Pharmacology #7 - Contract and Weep - focuses this time on obtaining the rapid emergency history and physical examination of a young confused adult man. Dr. Branch will become the patient's simulated relative. You will be expected to ask the relative questions to ascertain the situation before it’s too late! You will be provided with data to support your evaluation of the patient. English is NOT the focus of this session, so questions can be asked in Japanese and/or English alike! Attendees will be assigned to breakout groups via Zoom®️ in which they will need to collaborate with fellow medical students and physicians to answer several pertinent questions related to the patient's history. As part of the session you will need to consider the various drugs that might be used as part of the overall treatment of the overdose. All attendees will be encouraged to use UpToDate®️ for the current recommendations of recognising, investigating and treating drug overdoses. LEXICOMP®️ or Epocrates®️ Are advocated to check drug doses, side effects and possible drug-drug interactions. Breakout room group members should assign a notetaker who can write down the discussion to present to the groups in the latter part of the session through screen sharing. Attendees will be sent preparatory information in advance for them to do their own self-study before the session.
