Do you know about the history and sound of Gagaku?   Gagaku has over 1,300 years of history and was registered on the UNESCO Representative List of “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”   The Gagaku performing arts were originally introduced to Japan from China and the Korean Peninsula in ancient times, however have all but disappeared from those areas due to being an oral tradition and through wars. So, it is true to say that Japanese Gagaku is the oldest existing form of Gagaku in the world.   Gagaku is performed at important events and ceremonies for the Imperial Household and it has deep relations and connections with Shinto shrines.   Would you like to touch and feel Japanese culture that has been passed down from ancient times?   We present you with an authentic tour to experience ancient Gagaku dance and practicing instruments?   After getting an image of Gagaku by listening and watching a real performance, next is your turnYou will practice with genuine instruments, and then at the end of the lesson play in an actual Gagaku performance wearing real costumes.Please take this opportunity to join us! Review Name: Miyabi I love Japanese culture so I attended this “Bunpaku” tour.I could feel eternal culture from playing the ancient music carrying a history of over 1,000 years, wearing traditional dance costumes. I think I could understand about this art much more deeply while connecting to ancient times. -----------------------------------------------------------------gagaku2-day Gagaku Experience in Shinto Shrine   On the first day, you will observe an ensemble of Gagaku practice.   Then on the second day, you will practice actual Gagaku songs! First, you will get used to the sound of Gagaku by reading from a musical score. After that you will be able to play the instruments by yourself.   When you have mastered the songs then you are ready for an actual performance as a musician wearing the costume called "Hitatare".   Contents: Instructions, practice with instruments, putting on 'Hitatare' (court robes) and photo shoot, actual performance   Schedule: Day One 18:15                   Meet at Shimo Shinmei Tenso Shrine 18:30-20:30        Observe the ensemble of Gagaku practice   Notes: -  It is OK to leave in the middle of the activity -  No accommodation provided   Day Two 14:30                   Gagaku lesson 15:30-16:30         Trying on 'Hitatare' (court robes)   Note: If you can’t participate in the second day activities, please inform us in advance.   This Gagaku Experience is scheduled every Saturday and Sunday.
