Major changes or life stage transitions such as moving cities, starting a new job, or becoming a parent, can become overwhelming and stressful - especially unexpected ones. At these critical junctures, it is natural and common to feel lost and unsure of ourselves. Sometimes we may question our very existence as we search for new meaning and ways to define our own purpose. Join us for this month’s Change Talks on Existential Change: Transitioning Through Different Life Stages to explore some of these questions:How do you cope and adapt to change at pivotal stages of Life/Work? How can we minimise anxiety and uncertainty when change comes knocking on our door? How do we ensure our physical health and mental wellbeing in order to show up with courage, composure and clarity? Come share experiences, mindsets, challenges!Our speakers this month are:Prerna Suri, JournalistPrerna Suri is an award-winning journalist with over 12 years of experience spanning global newsrooms, governments and inter-government agencies. She is currently with Singapore’s largest media house- MediaCorp- as their Editor (International News) at Channel NewsAsia, one of Asia’s prolific news channels. She was previously the South Asia Correspondent for Al Jazeera English reporting on political and economic events out of the region. Whilst in Singapore, Prerna has also reported for broadcasters like the BBC, TRT World, CCTV, RTB, ET Now & Reuters on business and general news. Prerna is also a former UN diplomat having worked with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Bangkok serving as their spokesperson in Asia. For a brief period, Prerna ran an independent communications firm, headquartered in Singapore, with sub-offices in Dubai and London. During that time, she worked primarily with government bodies, newsrooms, foundations and corporates on media trainings and communication strategies. Some of her clients included India’s Central Bank, the National University of Singapore, United Nations Systems College, The Reuters Foundations and Mars Inc. She is a published writer with publications in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Hindustan Times, The Times of India and Khaleej Times. Prerna is also committed to various mentoring programs in Singapore and regularly speaks at industry events.She holds a Masters degree in Gender & Media Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science.Cheryl Chung, Deputy Director, Strategic Planning Lee Kuan Yew School of Public PolicyCheryl heads the strategic planning department at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy,National University of Singapore and together with a team, is building the futures researchand teaching capabilities at the School with the “Future Ready Singapore” project. Her workfocuses on the intersection of technology, economic and regulatory policy and on capabilitydevelopment in futures thinking for policy makers. Before joining the School in 2015, Cheryl worked in the Singapore Government where she led futures projects across several ministry portfolios for 8 years. She entered the world of public policy futures as part of the pioneer team for the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s Futures Group. There, she led projects exploring the industry development potential of trends such as big data, and 3D-printing. After MTI, she moved to the Strategic Policy Office, under the Prime Minister’s Office, where she co-led the Emerging Strategic Issues Project v2.0 and led research work on the Evolving Role of the State. She also designed, developed, and delivered their in-house training programme, Futurecraft, specialising in foresight communication. Cheryl’s most recent ministry posting was to the Ministry of Transport where she helped to start the Ministry’s futures team and led the development of their policy framework for Autonomous Vehicles.Cheryl trained as an economist and graduated with a first class honours degree from the University of Melbourne in 2002. Cheryl graduated with a Master of Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in 2013. Outside her day job, Cheryl consults for the social sector as Project Director for Conjunct Consulting and is a co-founder of Quad Research, a non-partisan collective that believes in expanding the space for data-driven discourse and assisting in better collective decisions for Singapore’s future.Rahul DaswaniRahul is an intrapreneur, passionate about designing and implementing organisation-wide initiatives to build capabilities. His experience over the last 8 years includes founding or being in the early stages of 3 government startups: Strategy Group in Singapore's Prime Minister's Office, SkillsFuture Singapore (to encourage lifelong learning), and the Office of Climate Change (now upgraded to the Climate Change Development Authority) of Papua New Guinea. He has worked at both macro and micro levels, assessing the demand and supply of critical skills across industries at SkillsFuture Singapore, crafting scenarios for the future at the Prime Minister's Office in Singapore, creating sustainable development plans with provinces in Indonesia while at McKinsey, scaling up agricultural extension services in Ethiopia through good governance and business practices, and building the talent at the Office of Climate Change and Development in Papua New Guinea.MORE ABOUT JUSTCOJustCo is Singapore’s largest co-working space in the Central Business District (CBD).
