But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.’We all have genius within us. Yet knowing you have a genius within doesn't make picking up a guitar or a paintbrush any easier. On the contrary, if we believe that "art" is for "artists" only, we live only as an observer and dreamer. On Monday night, you'll hear how these artists found their way to let art into their lives. Unique stories of self-expression, we promise you’ll leave inspired to unleash your own genius!OPEN MIC - Join us to share your genius with a warm and supportive crowd! A poem, a song, a cover of your favorite tune…we want to hear it! Just book your open mic spot here and Cynthia will reach out to you: http://goo.gl/forms/28h9fQk3OzfBTteZ2 Join us for a shot of creative inspiration, for soulful conversations with old and new friends over coffee/drinks, and for a night that’ll inspire you to unleash your own genius. Come alone, or bring friends. Either way, you’ll meet a new crowd to mingle with! And as always, feel free to join the artists afterwards to freestyle and create fun music on the fly!Modern life is rubbish. Modern life is confusing. Modern life is terrifying. Ian Tai sings songs about modern life, waxing lyrical over a trail of musical destruction stemming from his own life experiences and observations. No stone is left unturned as hipsters, zealots, ex-girlfriends and even the unsuspecting middle class populace are given a spotlight.Featured Acts:Aishah Soraya / song & guitar:Aisha captivated our ears and hearts when we heard her perform open mic at March’s Unleash event. She’s back now as a featured artist - and there is no doubt this tiny gal is a powerhouse! She describes herself as small, Beyonce lovin, emotional, and loves dinosaurs. Somehow during her studies she finds time to do what she’s so talented at - sing, play, and perform! What a treat we’ll get to see her back for a set! For more, go to her youtube channel: (2) Haqim Omar / bass:“I first found interest in playing music when i was 16 years old. My first intro to jamming session with an old friend of mine. Mikail Andre as lead sing and guitar and Abudin as drummer. As time grows on and we were never separated by any means. We stick and perform various places and eventsMusic plays a huge part of my life, I'm thankful that one phase of my life. I was bearing the death of my best friend. When she passed away it took much part of me away. I created a self titled album "Only Between Me, My God and my Bass". Created a song called " Illusion " was based on the struggle that i had gone through. When i express my music, it makes me feel alive because, my bass speaks for me rather than myself having a lyric to express it. I feel comfortable in sense by letting the audience feel rather than know.I wish that youth nowadays are able to have a diverse platform where they can express themselves, always have an open mind to accept differences and never look those who are above you, look at those who are below you, so you appreciate what you have rather than endless material aim.”For more you can go here:http://www.numberonemusic.com/haqimomarq
