Book Explorations with Chew Lin
Books. Treasure troves of knowledge and learning. For many of us, books played a significant part in filling our minds and shaping how we understand and experience the world. Once we stepped into the working world however, books tend to become a luxury as other things in life compete for our limited time.
The USP Alumni Society proudly invites you to the first ever session of Book Explorations! Modeled after Book Clubs, these sessions will bring you through a series of books anchored around a topic of interest. Come join Chew Lin for a night of discovery, discussion and dinner in a quiet, central location. Places are limited, so register today to avoid disappointment!
Understanding Religion Through the Lens of History
Kay Chew Lin
Religions forms part of the fabric of our lives, whether we acknowledge or not. We sometimes think of religions as discrete groups of beliefs and practices, when interaction and absorption happen much more often than we think. How might the study of history help us to appreciate this better? What relevance might this have in contemporary life? Tonight, Chew Lin (Class of '06) will be here to help us go explore this difficult terrain. Chew Lin is many things, but for us tonight, she has been a docent at the Asian Civilisations Museum since 2015, and has been a facilitator at Explorations into Faith, an initiative of Southeast CDC since 2009.
