日本翻訳者協会（JAT）が主催する翻訳・通訳の年次カンファレンス、IJET（International Japanese-English Translation Conference）が、2014年6月21日〜22日に初めて東京で開催されます。JATとは、1985年に翻訳者・通訳者の情報交換の場として設立された団体で、IJETは今年で25回目の開催となります。このIJET-25に先駆け、IJET-25実行委員会では、日本国内各地でプレイベントを実施しており、第3弾は、東日本大震災で復興中の仙台にて開催します。今回のプレイベントは、二部構成となっており、前半では地元仙台、および東京に在住の6人の翻訳者が、15分ずつプレゼンテーションを行います。後半では、震災直後から何度も被災地に足を運ばれ、現在でも被災地支援のボランティア活動を続けられているダグラス・ダーギー氏をお招きし、東北での ボランティア活動についてお話いただきます。翻訳・通訳の仕事をすでにされている方はもちろんのこと、翻訳者・通訳者を目指している方、翻訳・通訳だけでなく、国際交流、ボランティアに興味のある方、英語・日本語を勉強中の方など、多くの方々にお集まりいただき、情報の収集やネットワーキングの機会としてご活用いただければと思っております。セミナーのみ、交流会のみのご参加も可能です。お誘い合わせのうえ、ぜひご参加ください。The Japan Association of Translators’ (JAT) annual conference on translation and interpreting, IJET (International Japanese-English Translation Conference), will take place in Tokyo for the first time ever on June 21-22, 2014.JAT was founded in May 1985 as a means for individual translators and interpreters to exchange information and insights and this year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of IJET.The Organizing Committee is traveling around Japan putting on a series of pre-events in the run up to the conference. The third event will take place in Sendai on Saturday, February 8th, 2014.The Sendai Pre-event is divided into two parts. During the first part six Sendai and Tokyo based translators will give 15 minute presentations. In the second part, Sendai based translator, Doug Durgee will talk about his experiences as volunteer in Tohoku.JAT members and non-members, veteran translators/interpreters those just starting out, as well as those interested in international exchange, studying English or Japanese, and volunteer activities are all welcome. We hope that the Pre-event in Sendai, the first JAT organized event in Tohoku, will create an opportunity for participants to exchange information, learn more about translation and network.The event is followed by a networking dinner.
