In this workshop, gardener Bob will share growing from seeds to harvest basics plus personal pointers from his own years of experience. Learn how to propagate herbs as well as re-potting basics. There is also a tour of the gardens inside HortPark with a special focus on native edible plants.Date & Time: 20 May 2017, 1:00pm - 3:00pmVenue: NÓNG at HortPark (33 Hyderabad Rd (Off Alexandra Road), Beside the Lawn, Singapore 119578)The cost is $50 per person, with limited spaces available, so booking is essential.What you will learn in this session:- Choosing the right seeds.- Selecting the correct potting medium.- Understanding the appropriate types of fertilisers.- Handling of pests organically.- Propagation of herbs and re-potting basics.- Post-harvest tips.- Native edible plants found at HortPark.What you will take home:- One planting trough of dimension 33.5 x 18.5 x 14.5 cm- Potting mix.- Local vegetable seeds.- Cuttings from the garden at NÓNG.Instructor Bio:Bob previously ran his own nursery and landscaping company in Singapore where he was involved in the design, the implementation and maintenance of his landscapes. Currently retired, he spends his time tending to his community plot in HortPark, guiding garden tours for kids and adults, as well as, conducting workshops for NÓNG, NParks and providing private classes.Bob has facilitated courses, talks and demonstrations for many community centres, the Clementi School of Commerce, the National Youth Leadership Training Institute, various primary schools and companies such as Ascot Hotels and Shell. He has been interviewed on radio shows and wrote and "acted" in his own gardening series for Sunday Morning Singapore.
