Guided Tour of Sri Layan Sithi Vinayagar Temple

Join us for a guided tour of this historic Hindu temple situated in the heart of Chinatown. Worship of Lord Vinayagar was previously carried out at a site near the Singapore General Hospital, however the government acquired the land as part of the hospital's expansion plan in 1920, and the community built the new temple on the present site in 1925. A Black Stone Vinayagar idol was brought in from India and installed as the main deity, while the idol of the old temple was installed in front of the main deity at the sanctum. The temple is administered by the Chettiars' Temple Society and attracts devotees of all races.
