What will I learn?Q1. このワークショップで学べることは何ですか？ In this workshop you will learn about the main differences in pronunciation and standardised sounds of the two main varieties of the English language: namely the British and the American varieties. You will also practise with an array of activities in which you will be able to give it a go yourself, guessing and producing different phonemes.このワークショップでは、いわゆる「イギリス英語」「アメリカ英語」と呼ばれている2種類の英語における、発音の主な違いと標準とされている音について学びます。また、自分でも違う音素を出したり、推測したりできるように練習も行います。 Q2. Will I be able to tell British and American English apart after the workshop?Q2. このワークショップを受けたらイギリス英語とアメリカ英語を聞き分けられるようになりますか？ The instructions given in this workshop are based on what's perceived as quintessential British pronunciation (Received Pronunciation) and what's called General American (think news anchors in both countries), and should only be taken as general directions on how to differentiate American and British standard pronunciation. So, you will be able to differentiate standard pronunciation but you should be aware that not everybody in the UK or the US speaks the same way!このワークショップで扱うのは、典型的なイギリス発音(RP、クイーンズイングリッシュ)と言われているもの、そして一般的なアメリカ発音です(ニュースキャスターが話すようなものと考えてください)。あくまでも英・米の標準的な発音をどう識別するか、という内容になります。したがって、標準的な発音に関しては聞き分けられるようになるでしょう。しかし、当然ながらイギリスやアメリカに住んでいる人全員が同じように話すわけではありません！ Q3.
