Add some spice to your Singapore life by joining this fun tour which will delve into the historical, trade, medicinal and, most importantly, culinary properties of the multitude of spices available here. We'll begin by exploring the spice and herb gardens as old as the hills of Fort Canning. Our magic carpet (OK bus!) will then whisk us to the Geylang Serai market to visit stalls selling herbs and ground spices where veteran stallholders will make you a fresh mixture of spices to take home. Stop by the old lady who whips up the most fragrant potpourri made with fresh flowers drizzled with rose water and let your guide fetch you a warm batch of steamed Putu Piring - fluffy white pillows filled with smooth molasses dipped in shredded coconut. Back on the coach and it's down to Little India to visit one of Singapore's most popular wet markets, Tekka. Be introduced to little-known vegetables and how they are best eaten. Visit one of Singapore's only surviving mills where grandmothers still insist on bringing in their washed rice to be ground into flour for bread. Your second sampler stop will be here to try out a delectable sweet meat.Finish the tour with a meal made from all the spices you have been introduced to.
