Since then, the Club has successfully raised over S$200,000 and have set up the infrastructure to administer the funds raised. We have also obtained an IPC status for the Fund, providing donors with a tax relief of 250% on the amount donated. The MIT Club of Singapore Scholarship Fund was set up with dual purposes. The first is to fund an endowment at MIT, which will provide a Singapore-based student with a stipend which will complement but not replace the other bursaries and grants that he or she may be awarded by the Institute. The second is to fund academic prizes for the best students from the local Universities pursuing degrees in Science (including Economics) and Engineering. We have since allocated funds raised during the 2012 & 2014 Gala Dinner for its intended purposes.
